Items Appearing in the Notification Center & Digest Emails
Is there a list available of the types/definitions of the notification items that will appear in the Notification Center and be sent via the daily Notification Digest emails?

All notifications first appear in the user's notifications area under the red bell icon in the upper right. These notifications are also grouped together into a single Notification Digest email that is sent at whatever interval the user has chosen for their account, which defaults to daily. Once a particular notification is emailed, it will not be emailed again. It will continue to appear in the user's notification area when they are logged in until viewed or applicable action is taken(such as claiming a credit or viewing a new enrollment). Once the notification is no longer applicable, they will not receive an email regarding it. Since the notifications are not emailed until the end of the day, user's who are actively interacting with the portal will likely see the notification and take action on it, and thus will not receive an email notification. For example, if a user has a new subscription and visits that subscription that day, then they will not receive an email notification.
Notification Digests Emails are turned on by default for new portals, but pre-existing portals will need to email help@learnsomething.com to request that notification digest emails be turned on. We did not automatically turn these on for pre-existing organizations since we didn't to surprised anyone with emails to their existing user base.
Currently the types of notifications are:
- New Subscription: When a subscription is created for a user. Includes a link to the subscription.
- Subscription Expiration: 10 days before subscription expires. Includes a link to the subscription.
- New Enrollment: When user has been enrolled in a product. Includes a link to the enrollment.
- Enrollment Expiration: 10 days before enrollment expires, if it is not yet complete. Includes a link to the enrollment.
- Enrollment Claim Credit Available: Once user has completed requirements to claim a credit. If a Learning Product has multiple Credits available, there will only be one notification for that Learning Product. If a user claims credit in a Learning Product, causing the notification to go away, and later the Learning Product is modified and published with an additional credit which is structured such that the user's existing completion meets the criteria for that new credit block, then they will receive a new notification. - Conference Claim Credit Available: When credit can be claimed for a conference. Includes link to conference.
- New Conference Access: When a user gets access to a conference and it is one day past the conference start date. Includes link to conference.
- Conference Expiration: 10 days before conference expires. Removed once user claims attendance to at least one session. Includes link to conference.
- New Assignment: When user has been given a new assignment. Includes link to assignment.
- Assignment Due: 15 days prior to the assignment due date. Includes link to assignment.
- Assignment Overdue: When assignment has passed the due date. Includes link to assignment.
- New Discussion Post: Sent to all section admins whenever a learner posts to a discussion. This applies to any post that does not require grading, including posts to graded discussion where the particular post doesn't mean the grading requirements or is a follow-up after the learner already earned a completion. This type of notification is essentially "there is new activity in the discussion" so that admins are aware they may need to review/respond to learners.
Graded Activities These notifications ensure that as learners complete graded activities, admins are notified, and in turn learners are notified whether the activity was accepted or rejected.
- Sign Off Submission Pending Review: When a Learner submits a Sign Off activity, this is sent to all section administrators of the section. Removed when admin visits the admin dashboard. Links to admin dashboard. A particular admin will never have more than one notification of this type.
- Sign Off Activity: Sent to Learner whenever an admin rejects or accepts their submission. Removed when learner visits enrollment. Links to enrollment.
- DropBox Submission Pending Review: Sent to all section admins whenever a learner has submitted a DropBox activity.
- DropBox Activity: Sent to Learner whenever an admin rejects or accepts their submission. Removed when learner visits enrollment.
Links to enrollment. - Discussion Post Pending Review: Sent to all section admins whenever a learner submits posts to a Discussion activity which is marked as requiring grading. The learner must first have made the minimum number of posts before this notification shows up.
- Discussion Activity: Sent to learner whenever their posts for a graded discussion are accepted or rejected.
