Sprint 76 was released Monday, 7/27/15, and included the following new features and enhancements:

NEW

  • Admin Dashboard – Social: We've created a new menu item in the Admin Dashboard for Social features. Badges and Communities will be moved under this menu, as well as our new Webhooks feature described below.
  • Webhooks: Learner Community now has support for event based notifications via webhooks. With a webhook, you can receive and react to events occurring in Learner Community. Learner Community has support for six types of webhook events:

    • Enrollment Failed
    • Enrollment Completed
    • Enrollment Incomplete/Not Started and Idle for X Days
    • Learning Activity Failed
    • Learning Activity Completed
    • Learning Activity Incomplete/Not Started and Idle for X Days

Using these events from Learner Community you can send them to your own service or hook them up to a service like Zapier or IFTTT. Zapier and IFTTT are services that act as event proxies, allowing you to easily configure integrations between multiple systems. They provide integration options with hundreds of applications and services out of the box.

To help get the ideas flowing, we've included some basic example use cases below:

    • Send message (text, automated call, Slack, etc.) to a help desk when someone fails an activity or enrollment
    • Send a text message to a user if their enrollment is idle for 30 days
    • Save new completions to a Google Spreadsheet
    • Push completion information to Salesforce
    • Add users to a marketing/campaign contacts list upon completion
    • Invite users to a Meetup upon completion of an activity
    • Send a text message to a user promoting another product upon completion
    • Promote your products on social media by posting about completions.

Learner Community is working to publish an official Zapier app, making it even easier to configure an integration with the hundreds of services available on Zapier. We will post more information, including tutorials, when the service becomes available.

  • Individual Enrollment Codes: A little known feature in Learner Community has finally been brought out for everyone to use: individual enrollment codes. Individual enrollment codes are a set of unique codes that can only be redeemed once. These work just like the enrollment codes that you are used to. However, rather than everyone using a single code for redemption, you can now create individualized one-time-use codes that all roll up to the same enrollment code. That means that each code can only be used at most once. One example of this use case is if you were going to print and distribute them in a book, or distribute them in a large audience setting. If there is concern of the code being shared to other users, the use of the unique single use codes helps eliminate the risk.

The steps for adding a new enrollment code in the Admin Dashboard have changed slightly. When you click to add a new code, a window will open to select whether you want to create an Enrollment Code, good for a set of redemptions, or an Enrollment Code with Individual Subcodes. After selecting the code type, traditional enrollment codes that you’re used to creating will be set up exactly the same as before. The new individual code type has a new interface using tabs for configuration, products, individual codes and administrators.

Regarding webhooks -- are there plans to add additional events/triggers going forward? In particular we'd be interested in a trigger for when a learning activity that requires section admin review has been submitted (e.g., Sign Off and Drop Box activities). While these will currently show in the daily notification digest email, it would be beneficial for some of our products and workflows to have a more instant notification with the additional flexibility and customization offered by a service like Zapier.

    Hi Matt,
We will be adding additional events/triggers, though, at this time, I cannot specify which ones. I will add your suggestion to our discussion agenda for investigation. Thanks for you feedback!
