Is your use of the live classroom activity mainly to support giving the same training (learning product) on different dates and times?
-
Matt Kamen
Yes. We're planning on a series of recordings, SCORM packaged try-it scenarios/animations, and assessments as prerequisites before being eligible to attend a more advanced live training event (with a set curriculum) on a TBD schedule.

I think that only a small segment of our clients are using the live-classroom activity, but there has been an uptick in interest lately with clients moving through implementation. Currently the only way to get into a live-classroom section is by redeeming an enrollment code. However, we are working on a design to make the sections a first-class citizen from the catalog making this feature easier to use.

We're also considering a creating blended learning experience for some of our learners.
Question: is the "live-classroom" and "classroom" activity the same thing? If not, how can I access the live-classroom activity? -
Dave Hecker
The Classroom learning activity provides a way to track a live event (e.g., a webinar; an in-person event) within a learning product. At the event you would provide a code that attendees would enter on the Classroom activity to mark it complete.
You define the Classroom activity on Staging, but the class specifics (date/time, location, instructor(s), attendance code, and notes to learner) are managed on Live, via the "Learning Product Sections" admin area. Sections can be used for any learning product (even ones that don't have Classroom activities), but when the product has one or more Classroom activities, managing a Section lets you customize the specifics of each Classroom activity for that particular Section.
Learners enrolled in a specific Section are basically classmates: instructors can manage individual Sections (seeing who's enrolled, view learner progress). Also, the Discussion activity is private to the learners within the Section.
